WHAT TO EXPECT
TL;DR

In this edition:
• A simple career habit that can help make your work more visible
• 3 brands that caught my eye and are worth paying attention to
• One monthly prompt to kickstart more creativity in your life
• Two resources every creative should know about

career confidential

Get in winners, we’re getting to the bag…

Hard work matters. Visibility does too.
One of the biggest career myths is that if you simply work hard enough, the right people will eventually notice.

Sometimes they do.

But more often than not, careers grow when strong work is paired with clear communication and visibility.

That means making sure people understand:
• what you contributed
• how you think
• what problems you solve
• the outcomes you help create
• where you want to grow next

A lot of talented people stay overlooked because they confuse humility with silence.

No, you don’t need to brag. But you do need to advocate for your value.

Something(s) to try this week:
At the end of one meeting, send a concise follow-up note summarizing:

• key decisions made
• next steps
• where you can lead or support

This signals ownership, clarity, and leadership.

Remember:
Being excellent in private is valuable.
Being understood in public is powerful.

pretty strategic

The smartest brands don’t just focus on selling products — they also care about creating relevance, establishing consistency, and developing reasons to care.

Here are three marketing moments in the wild that caught my eye lately:

1. Marc Jacobs

Marc Jacobs recently released The Scene — a scripted, satirical YouTube short starring Rachel Sennott as she spirals trying to secure a Met Gala invite. Instead of posting another polished campaign, the brand created entertainment tied to fashion culture, internet humor, and aspiration. I can’t wait to see what they do on their socials (or on screen at The Met Gala).

Peep the strategy: Don’t just launch a product. Create content people would watch even if the brand wasn’t attached.

2. Kris Jenner x The Devil Wears Prada 2

Instagram post

Who better to help spotlight The Devil Wears Prada 2 than Kris Jenner — someone synonymous with PR mastery, image-making, and fashion relevance. It’s smart casting because she naturally embodies the polished, high-pressure world the franchise is known for.

Peep the strategy: The best partnerships feel instantly believable. Put the right person in the right cultural story, and attention follows naturally.

3. Pinterest

Pinterest is leaning into something rare right now: mystery and real-life connection. Their recent Coachella phone-free activation created curiosity for those who weren’t there, while giving attendees a more present experience inside the room. In a world of constant posting, absence can be powerful.

There’s a reason events like the Met Gala fascinate people beyond the red carpet — people still crave what they can’t fully access.

Peep the strategy: In an over-shared world, intrigue can sometimes be stronger than exposure.

“Coachella is one of the biggest moments of the year for self-expression, and Pinterest is where people go to discover what they want to try next. This year, we’re inviting festival-goers to stop scrolling past their lives and start living them.”

growth mindset

Journal about it. 📝
Sometimes progress looks less like a breakthrough and more like a return.

Back to your routine.
Back to your standards.
Back to the habits that make you feel like yourself.

You don’t always need a dramatic new plan. Sometimes you just need to realign with what already works.

Challenge:
Set a 4-minute timer and don’t stop writing until time’s up.

🤔 Prompt of the month:
What would improve quickly if I got consistent again?

You earned the attention. Here's what to do next.

Most creators spend years building an audience on platforms that own it. The reach is real. The relationship isn't. One algorithm change and the people who chose you stop seeing you.

A newsletter is different. Your list is yours. Every subscriber is earned and stays earned. And on beehiiv, the tools to grow it, monetize it, and own it completely are built in from day one.
